How do I know which lifting strap is right for me?

In most cases it depends on personal preference. However, if you feel that regular unpadded straps are seem to be digging in to your wrist or hand, try using padded straps. The choice between 1 ½", 2", or leather straps is a matter of personal choice. If you require wrist support, any of the Deluxe lifting straps with built in wrist supports would help considerably.

How do I use lifting Straps?

Stick the open end through the looped end and pull it so there is still room to put
your hand through the opening you now formed.

Slide your hand through the opening so that the lose end sits in the palm of your
hand pointing in the same direction as your thumb.

Once you have placed your hand in the loop in the proper position, pull the lose
end of the strap until it fits snugly around your wrist. Now repeat the same procedure
with the other hand.

Approach a dumb bell or barbell. Your hands can be placed either in the forward or
backwards position. Place the palm of your hand on top of the bar with your fingers
extended. Wrap the loose end of the strap around the bar and once it is wrapped
around the bar, use your hand to twist and tighten the strap to you own liking. Repeat
with the other hand and you will be ready to lift.

When and why should I use lifting straps?

Progryp Lifting Straps are designed to increase the amount of weight that one can lift by
improving the grip around the bar. The strap acts as a support by taking off some of the
weight of the hands and fingers, shifting it to the wrist and back of the forearm. The lifting
straps are great for doing shrugs, lat pull downs, low pulls, pull ups and any exercise that
requires a firm grip. The straps allow you to lift more weight for longer periods of time, which in turn, helps you realize your goals much faster.

Why and when should I use gloves?

Gloves are designed to help and protect your hand and grip during a workout. There are many different styles of gloves each offering a different feel and with different features and benefits. They prevent calluses, blisters, and hand strains due to pressure, and abrasion from the bar. Depending on the glove, they can provide you with added grip, cushioning, or support. They cushion your fingers and palm from the knurling (the metal teeth of the lifting bar). They also provide protection from residual bacteria left on the bars. They give you added support (depending on the style of glove) for your wrists, fingers and palms. Gloves allow you to lift longer and more comfortably!

Which glove is right for me?

There are a number of questions and points needed to be raised when picking the correct glove for your workout needs. No matter what, your hands should have protection in any case. Not only do gloves provide a safer more comfortable workout; your overall workout is enhanced due to the comfort and grip. It is not easy to choose a glove with so many choices, however, below you may find a number of points to consider that may help when choosing a glove:

  • How many times a week are you going to use the gloves, and for what purpose
specifically? The number of times a week you workout can sometimes decide
whether you need a glove that is more rugged, or a glove for light duty purposes.
Another factor which can help you decide which glove is right for you is by looking
at the type of weights that you lift. Free weights generally require that you wear a
glove that offers more protection, while lifting machine weights you may need a
    minimal protection glove

  • When trying a glove ask yourself these questions, and consider these points.

  • When placing your hand in the glove, does it fit snugly? Is there enough room to move your fingers freely in all directions?

  • When holding the bar, does the material bend naturally with your hand.

  • Is the amount of coverage that the glove offers adequate? Consider the finger length of a glove. Some gloves offer extended finger length

  • Does it feel too bulky, or is there not enough cushioning on the palm? When squeezed tightly around the bar, you should be able to feel the bar close enough to your palm. This is important because you need enough cushioning to provide comfort, but you must also have a good feel of the bar for proper control and positioning.

  • Do you require a glove with a built in wrist support? This is very important if you have weak wrists or a medical problem. It is necessary to use accessories that will support and aid you properly throughout your workout.

  • Does your glove slip on the bar? There are a number of gloves that offer special non-slip surfaces. Sometimes, if a glove does not fit right, they may cause more harm then good. Once a glove is chosen to fit correctly with your hand, you should consider features like the type of gripping surface on the palm or the material being used.

When choosing a belt, how do I know which size is right for me?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why and when should I use a weightlifting belt?

The purpose of a weightlifting belt is for support of the lower back when lifting heavy. Originally used by weight lifters doing heavy overhead presses, weight belts are often considered essential for doing heavy squats, pressing heavy weights or doing heavy standing calf raises, but too many bodybuilders wear their weight belt the whole time they are in the gym. What this does is bind the lower back muscles and prevents them from developing the strength they ought to have. Use a weight belt only when you really need to. Otherwise you are only giving yourself the illusion of security and strength.

Are wraps and supports necessary?

Wraps are for supporting weak or injured muscles and joints and you will occasionally see that a bodybuilder uses wraps or supports; this is due to a physical problem. Most often, wraps are used around the knees while doing heavy squats-or the elbows and wrists during heavy bench presses. If you do not have an injury or joint problem (which should be treated by a doctor anyway), you do not need to wrap your knees until you have reached the point where you are lifting very heavy weight. Comfort stretch plush elastic bandages are the most frequently used type of wrap, wrapped firm but not too tightly. Remember, though, if you wrap an area tight enough to provide added support you are also limiting that area's flexibility and range of motion.

How do I know what features are the most important when purchasing weightlifting gloves?

Generally, there are four key things to look for in a training glove:

  1. Does it fit your hand?  Sounds simple but very important to note these things when trying on a glove:
    1. Does it fit snugly without binding?
    2. Can your fingers flex naturally and comfortably?
    3. Are the fingers the right length? (our gloves come in short and long finger models, and this is a matter of personal choice)
  2. Is there enough cushioning on the palm and fingers when you grasp a bar or a handle?
    1. Palms should be flexible but feel cushiony
    2. When you grip a handle or a bar, the glove palm and fingers should curl naturally around that surface
    3. You shouldn’t feel the “teeth” of the bar or handle cut into your fingers or palm when the bar is firmly grasped.
  3. Is there enough palm traction to ensure a “sure grip” when lifting or training?
    1. Does the palm material look like it will provide you with added traction?
    2. Does the palm material have extra stitching and padding in those areas that will have direct contact with the bar or a handle?
    3. When gripping a bar or a handle, does your grip slip as you go through your training motion?
  4. Does the glove support my hand and my wrist during training?
    1. Does the glove feel natural but supportive?
    2. If you need additional wrist support, are you wearing a “wristwrap” glove?
    3. Does your glove allow you to maintain the proper hand, arm and body position when training?
